BLZF started in August 2024.
And a lot has happened in 18 months.
Meet the Team
Our First Year, By the Numbers
(as of August 2025)
We hosted 5 zine fairs, welcoming 800+ in-person attendees, and organized 7 workshops with 170 student makers.
We worked with 163 makers, showcased 273 zine titles, and sold 936 zines, paying out $5,000 directly to artists. We also gave away 1,400+ free zines — most of them folded by hand by our team.
None of this would have been possible without 18 volunteers and the support of our in-kind sponsors.
We brought in $2,071 through donations, tips, BLZF product sales, and vendor fees. Our total expenses were $2,729, covering marketing, display materials, supplies, PO box costs, software (Airtable, Carrd, Shopify, domains, Google), transportation, team meals, replacement shipping, and craft fair materials.
